Fiestaware Holiday

My nearest and dearest know I love my Fiestaware.  They make sure my holidays are colorful and bright by giving me new pieces for my vast collection.  This year I was the luckiest Tempest in the world.  I got plates, bowls, and serving utensils in Fiestaware.

The Tardis of Teapots

A couple of weeks ago Natalie bought me a new teapot.  I must admit, it was an impulse buy on her part which happened too fast for me to stop her.  It was not that the teapot was not attractive, but it looked kind of small.  I thought it would only yield maybe two small cups of tea or one large cup of tea.  I brought it home and thought what the hell I will give it a try.  The teapot is a lovely round, enamel green, thing made of stainless steel.  The first pot I made actually filled almost 4 Fiestaware mugs, each mug is 12 ounces.  I was a little surprised that the tea just kept coming out of the shiny spout.  The next day I made a pot of tea for our larger Nightmare before Christmas mugs, those run about 18 to 20 ounces a mug.  We had just enough tea for those mugs with a little room leftover for honey and a splash of milk.  Again, I was surprised.  So surprised I started calling the new teapot the Tardis of teapots.

Natalie kept laughing at me every time I talked about the amazing new teapot.  I would say, "But it really is bigger on the inside than the outside."  She would laugh even more.  I didn't get it.  Well today I got it.  Really, I got it, a Tardis teapot.  When I opened the package she laughed and smiled at me.  All this time that I have been going on and on about my new Tardis of teapots, she actually had a Tardis teapot for me.  So crazy and awesome.

Good presents which will be much enjoyed.  I hope everyone had a great holiday, much love.

Oh I Love My Fiestaware!

My loved ones did very well this holiday season in providing me with my drug of choice, Fiestaware.  I got five new items and a gift card to Cornucopia, where Fiestaware lives.  I always get excited when I am handed a heavy package.  I know pottery goodness is within, that or someone is giving me leg weights.

My minion gave me my own rectangle casserole dish in tangerine, which is almost too pretty to use.  My friend Kim gave me new lemon grass oval platter which debuted on Christmas day filled with pot roast.  My mom gave me a new lemon grass canister.  And lastly, I got two new demitasse cups to round out my set.  I am so loved.

I love the Heat Miser

I am not a Christmas person.  I don't like carols and dream of snow.  I do love spending time with my family and friends and having the day off from work.  As you imagine I am not checking the TV schedule in search of any Christmas specials.  However, there is one number in The Year Without a Santa Claus that I do love, the Heat Miser song.  I think I love the flaming red hair of the Heat Miser and his minions.  I thought now would be a good time to share this clip with all the joy of the season.  I'm too much!!!

Much Sorriness, or Elvis sighted on my Blog

I am so sorry I have not blogged lately.  I find myself having the proverbial blue Christmas.  I am hoping after the new year things will improve.  So I thought why not really go for the seasonal pity party song, sung by the King of pity parties himself.  (This video is actually exceptional in video quality and Elvis croons out the ballad with much heart and soul)..

Day Twenty-nine: Gratitude

My day was all about my knitting, I got four projects soaked and blocked out. These finished items are hanging out together on my ironing board drying. Three of the finished items are part of my Christmas knitting. I feel like I am making progress towards my holiday. I still have five more project to go and I will be done. I am hoping the goddesses of knitting will bless with with speedy needles and error free projects. When I look at the items they make me smile and the thing that makes me smile the most is looking at stash yarn now beautifully knitted up into something wonderful. So today I am grateful for my yarn stash.

My yarn stash is all about possibility. When I look at the hanks, skeins, and balls of wool, alpaca, cotton, and whatever fiber fell off a shelf and into my basket I see more than just the string. I see warm afghans, fabulous scarves, fun wristwarmers, and stylish socks. They are all there waiting for me to knit them up.

Not surprisingly, I have shade after shade of green. A whole spring worth of greens patiently biding their time until they become something fun, something made by me. This Christmas as I paged through knitting books and patterns on ravelry, I thought about what I had waiting for me in my pie safe which houses my stash. I dug through my yarn and reviewed my candidates and was able to find exactly what I wanted. Don't get me wrong, I bought new yarn just yesterday, but still it is nice to come home to a cabinet of possibilities just waiting for the right pattern to be knitted up. For all of these possibilities from my stash I am grateful.
